The following 12 films, all from different countries, were submitted for the 33rd Academy Awards in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The titles highlighted in blue and yellow were the five nominated films, which came from France, Italy, Mexico, Sweden and Yugoslavia. The eventual winner was Ingmar Bergman's revenge drama The Virgin Spring, which represented Sweden.[1]
